Can A Fertility Monitor Help You Get Pregnant Or Is It A Waste of Money? Fertility Monitor
A fertility monitor can help you to determine the day that you’re ovulating, which is when you need to have sex if you want to get pregnant. There are definite signs that you’re about to ovulate, such as changes in your estrogen levels and luteinizing hormone. Computerized ovulation monitors track these changes, letting you know your days of high and peak fertility.
How a Fertility Monitor Works
If you are going to use the computerized monitor, you have to tell it when the first day of your period is. This is “Day 1″ of your cycle. You can start the monitor on the first day or within the first 5 days, but if it is past that day, you will have to wait until your next period to start.
From Day 6, it’ll start to tell you to take a test. This is a pee-on-a-stick test, similar to a pregnancy test. Once you’ve done that, you’re supposed to stick it into the machine and wait 5 minutes. The fertility monitor will tell you whether you’re having a fertile day or not.
When Fertility Monitors do not Work
We should go forward with this story. A monitor can tell you your peak days if you have a fairly regular cycle, but there is a small problem with the way that it determines your day. Once it begins to see a slight surge in your hormone levels, it’ll show that you’re having a peak day, then the monitor goes into automatic mode, showing another peak day and then tapering off. In some women, this is a false peak day–the real day of ovulation comes a few days later. If the machine continued to test, it may catch this.
Is It Worth The Money?
The monitors are quite expensive–more than 100–and require you to purchase specific test strips, which can get really expensive if you do not conceive the first or second month.
Fertility monitors do not do anything that you cannot do on your own. If you track your cycle, check your cervical mucus and use ovulation test strips (which you can order cheap online), you will be able to determine your own peak fertility days.

Clearblue fertility monitor? Me and my fiance found out that we’ve very recently miscarried at around 7 weeks, we want a baby so bad and are trying again has any one ever conceived the first month of using the clearblue fertility monitor ( or any other monitor) ? How long did it take to conceive with a fertility monitor? Any other information and opinions on them would be very helpful! Thanks!
With my first daughter it took me two yrs and alot of fertitlity treatment and about six misscarriages then I finally got pregnant. With My second daughter four months after my frist was born I decided I really wanted more children soon. I figured it would take a while to get pregnant again so I went of of BC got a monitor and started and thirty days later I was pregnant. The monitor really helped me pin point the exact best time to conceive and i got pregnant frist try. I was shocked because it took so long the first time around plus I was straight off of birth control. If you use the monitor correctly it really can work wonders for you.
