Getting Pregnant is Not Wam, Bam, Thank You Ma’am
It does not take just one insemination and wham, bam, thank you ma’am, you are pregnant. On average it takes six inseminations to have a successful pregnancy. We just finished up our 2nd insemination without a successful pregnancy.
A successful pregnancy requires that everything be just right. It requires that everything fall into place at just the right time and just the right place. Even straight couples experience the same thing. Oh yeah, there are those pregnancies that happen on the first try. There are those couples that lie with each other one time, those one night stands, and you have a pregnancy. But on average, it takes a while to conceive.
Statistically, according to our fertility specialists:
Only 20-25% of women become pregnant during the first cycle. That number jumps to about 60% within the first 6 months and up to 90% of couples will get pregnant within 12-18 months.
It can be a frustrating process, but following the advice of your specialist should increase your chances of success. Remember to take your prenatal vitamins everyday. Get to know your cycle.
A further beneficial element pertaining to this content. A woman’s cycle does not just last for the 5-7 days she is on her period. Your cycle is a process that starts from the day you start your period, all the way until you have your next period. It is a process of follicle growth, maturity, follicle releasing the egg or ovulation and finally the uterus expelling the egg if there is no fertilization, with the release of your period. Getting to know your body and when you ovulate will certainly increase your chances for a successful pregnancy.
When Should You See a Fertility Doctor? – YouTube
If you are a Lesbian couple like us, and you are using InVitro Fertilization techniques, it might take several cycles for you to have a successful pregnancy. That is why it is important to seek a fertility doctor who can track your follicle growth with the use of ultrasound. If the specialist sees that the follicle is growing successfully at the rate it should, then the fertility doctor can induce ovulation with the HCG shot which again, will let you know exactly when you will be ovulating. So no guess work trying to figure out when you are ovulation is occurring. Then the fertility specialist can inject your semen sample following the HCG shot. Using a fertility specialist gives you a higher chance of having a successful pregnancy, than if you were at home trying some method on your own.
And one last thing to consider is that age may play a factor in how fast you conceive. Many women are waiting until their 30’s to get pregnant. And women only have a limited number of eggs. As those eggs age, it may be harder to get pregnant in your 30’s than say if you were eightteen or twenty years of age. It is important during your journey to have a baby, that you have patience and follow the doctor’s orders. This should be a wonderful experience for you and your partner. Share every moment together, the good and the bad, the highs and the lows, and when that beautiful baby does arrive, you’ll bask in the joy of knowing it was well worth the wait.

If insurance companies don’t cover fertility specialists will the doctors write it off as another procedure? So that insurance will pay? I’ve heard of doctors doing this. Has anyone had a doctor do this so that a couple could have children?

Fertility Doctor Question? Ok so I was referred to a Fertility Doctor to have a HSG done because my regular doc doesn't do them. They need to check for endometriosis because it runs in my family and I've been trying to conceive for over a year with no luck. The thing is I don't think my insurance covers fertility procedures…so is this considered one even though they're checking for a disease? It's not like I'm getting artificially inseminated. Has anyone had this done before that can help me?
