WOMEN and MEN this is not your typicall aBORtion question….? What are your thoughts on Selective Abortion. For instance, during IVF multiple Zygotes are inserted into the Uterus, and there are an increasing number of occurrences of large multiple births. What I want to know is how many of you would agree/blame/condone/sympathize with/disagree/criticize/etc. A woman, in which more than two zygotes have implanted into the uterine wall and are viable, if she decided to selectively abort some or all but one zygote?

IVF procedure & Insurance Coverage. We’ve been advised to have IVF procedure for which our Insurance company is paying NOTHING, saying it’s pre-existing.

Yes, I'd say it's definitely fine and imagine it's often necessary to keep the mother and at least one of the fetuses alive. It's simply absurd and irresponsible to consider IVF abortion wrong when it puts the life of the woman and all the fetuses in jeopardy. Like another respondent noted, those who claim it's not moral utterly fail to realize this is no longer an easily reducible issue of “killing babies.” it’s an issue of how people, having once used *science* to intervene in normal affairs, are going to deal with the consequences. So perhaps it actually is an issue of whether IVF itself is moral or not, or how much right people have and what lengths people should be allowed to go to to have their genetically own children. (I personally think, when it gets to the point that a person must have IVF, that the “right” to bear one's genetically own children has become selfish, wasteful, and unnecessary.) An (anti-choice) person can’t sensibly and logically claim that IVF – or using science to tamper with normal reproduction – is OK (women are *not supposed* to have more than one fetus growing in their wombs), but then claim the woman has no right to monitor the already known scientific consequences (10 fetuses) once the tampering is done. No. The IVF procedure would be disastrous if women were expected to carry around ten fetuses because “we humble earthlings have no right to say who lives or dies.” Apparently if we’ve the power to put ten fetuses where they’re not supposed to be, somebody in fact ALREADY DOES have the power to say who lives. Now how are we going to deal with who dies? Anti-choicers who think IVF abortion is “wrong” but don’t consider IVF wrong don’t have their s.hit straight; they need to reassess their stances on IVF itself. What I'd like to know is how anti-choicers propose people deal with a situation like this: . OMG, we should have left the fetuses grow inside the infant because otherwise we're “killing babies”!

First and foremost I believe in a woman's choice. On a personal level if it were me? I probably wouldn't selectively abort any if there were no risks to my health or any of the babies. If there was a risk to trying to carry all of the babies to term than I would really have to strongly consider the option of aborting some of them, but I don't know for sure that I would.

It's quite dangerous for the woman, and for the fetuses she’s carrying, to carry multiples. Women weren’t intended to carry litters they way that cats and mice do. It’s often in the best interest of the woman's health to reduce the number of fetuses she’s carrying. It also ensures that the fetuses she does carry will have plenty of nutrients, and a much better chance of survival.
